Low Vision Occupational Therapist of New Jersey, LLC has been established in the hopes of developing greater avenues to meet the needs of the ever-growing epidemic population of people living with low vision conditions. Currently, there are very few low vision rehabilitation services available in the Northeastern United States. Services are very sparse, fragmented and difficult for many adults with low vision to access due to transportation issues. The mission of Low Vision of Occupational Therapist of New Jersey, LLC is to provide consulting services to assist health care facilities in the development and establishment low vision rehabilitation programs, train on site staff to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment intervention services, as well as, to offer educational seminars/workshops in low vision rehabilitation. Currently, Medicare recognizes and reimburses Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists as legitimate providers of low vision rehabilitation services, however most therapists have not received this highly specialized training in their educational curriculums or in their on-the-job training. In the United States, there is a limited handful of Occupational Therapists that have been offically recognized and awarded as highly skilled, competent providers of low vision rehabilitation services. Elsa Zavoda has proudly achieved this level of accomplishment in her professional endeavors.
